On April 26, 2018, a workshop presenting material found during the first five seasons of excavation at Tel Abel Beth Maacah was conducted. It was organized under the auspices of the Minerva Center for Research of Israel and Aram in Biblical Times (Aren Maier of Bar-Ilan University and Angelika Berlejung of Leipzig University) and the Institute of Archaeology of the Hebrew University of Jersualem, where the workshop took place.
Lectures included 'Stratigraphy, Architecture and Chronology' (Naama Yahalom-Mack), 'Thoughts about the Architecture of the Area B Citadel' (Ruhama Bonfil), 'A City and a Mother in Israel' (Izaak de Hulster) and 'Iron I Cultic Contexts in Area A' (Nava Panitz-Cohen). A presentation of the Iron Age I and II pottery took place, followed by a very lively and interesting discussion of issues relevant to the excavation results, focusing mainly on chronology and geo-political relations during Iron Age IIA.
