Goals for our 2026 Season
We will continue to expose the unique late Iron Age I palace complex in Area A along with expanding the Iron Age IIA industrial installations (kilns, ovens) in this area.

In Area K, the extensive Iron IIA storeroom complex and possible gatehouse will be further excavated and we will be searching for additional storerooms to the west.
This season we plan to return to Area B on the acropolis of the tell to continue exposing the massive 9th century BCE citadel that overlooks the valley.

Accommodation
Our accommodations during the excavation will be nearby to the site, in en suite, air-conditioned units with free wifi available.

It is possible to obtain academic credit by participating in the Field School we offer. Credit is granted by the Rothberg School of International Students of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Schedule
We dig five days a week, from Monday to Friday, with Saturday and Sunday free.
We arrive at the site to start digging by 5 a.m. and the dig day in the field ends at 13:00.
During the course of excavation, we break for breakfast and tea and fruit. We return to our accommodations for a hot lunch and a siesta.

After-Dig Activities
After a much-deserved siesta from after lunch until 4:00 p.m., activities pick up with pottery washing and sorting, data entry, microarchaeological processing, and general office work that dig participants are welcome to take part in.
Lectures will be given once or twice a week on topics of general archaeological and historical interest.
