Thanks to Our Generous Donors and Supporters
Our project is made possible by a number of individuals and institutions who understand the importance of Biblical Archaeology and value our contribution to understanding it better. Since 2017, it is supported by prestigious Israel Science Foundation grants awarded to co-director Prof. Naama Yahalom-Mack.
In its initial stages, the Tel Abel Beth Maacah archaeological and research project was supported by the financial generosity of friends and alumni of Azusa Pacific University (Los Angeles, CA). We especially acknowledge the Board of Trustees, the late President Jon Wallace and his wife, Gail Vaughn Wallace, Executive Vice-Presiden tDavid Bixby, Provost Mark Stanton, David Dias, Jeff and Denise Sponseller, as well as Richard Hutcheson and the Legacy Foundation, and several anonymous others. Two scholarships by Morgan and Sandy Davis in 2014 and 2015 allowed deserving students to participate in the dig. David Dias in particular has been a driving force and financial supporter for this project since its inception and we thank him for his enthusiasm and vision.
Prof. Robert (Bobby) Duke, Dean of the School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University, has been an instrumental partner from the outset and thanks very much to his support, the project is constantly moving forward.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jeff and Dr. Carroll Kobs of Fort Worth, Texas for their ongoing involvement in the excavation, and whose enthusiastic support and generosity have been expressed financially and in the field - as excellent supervisors in Area A.
We express our deep appreciation of Dianne Benton of Austin, Texas, for her support, both in purchasing important dig equipment and for being an active participant in the field since the inception of the project, as well as for her cherished friendship. Dianne is also a staunch and generous supporter of the upcoming publication of the final excavation report.
Particular gratitude goes to Mr. Wayne Shepard of Florida and Mr. John Camp of New Mexico, USA, whose continuous generous support has made our work in the field and our research possible. These two gifts were initially facilitated by Hershel Shanks, the late editor emeritus of Biblical Archaeology Review magazine.
We gratefully acknowledge the generous annual scholarships donated by the Johnson Family of Fort Worth, Texas, which go to support deserving students and enable them to participate in the excavation.
We extend our thanks to the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies (Prof. Ed Wright and Dr. Beth Alpert-Nakhai) for their generous support of the 2014 'Gender Agenda' program and for their important ongoing educational grants in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
We thank David Paul and Dr. Lisa Marsio of Scottsdale, Arizona, for their participation in the excavation and generous donations in 2015 and 2016.
We wish to acknowledge with gratitude the ongoing, profusely generous support of Prof. Bettina Schwartz whose academic and personal involvement and interest in the Abel Beth Maacah excavations have made a significant contribution to the field excavations and research alike.
